11 Days in Nepal: Kathmandu & Pokhara Tour with Mardi Himal Trek

Day 1: Arrival | Welcome to Nepal

Welcome to Kathmandu international airport. On your arrival at the airport, you will be relieved of any travel stress as our representative will welcome you, take care of your luggage and transfer you to hotel on a private car

After hotel check-in your tour manager will conduct a short program briefing over welcome drinks. 

Tips to Tailor-make your tour

Are you worried about jet lag? We suggest you have a proper rest in your hotel to help you adjust with climate and new environment. 

If you have extra bit of energy and enthusiasm you may spend strolling around nearby local market. Let us know in advance so we can arrange it accordingly. Just send us your preferences. 

Note: Dinner will be at your own expenses. 

Day 2: Kathmandu to Pokhara | Local tour | Domestic flight

At 6.30 we will pick you up from your hotel and drive to Kathmandu domestic airport to catch 8am flight to Pokhara. The flights offer you full views of mountain peaks including Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Gorkha Himal, Manaslu, Annapurna ranges and Dhaulagiri. 

You will be in Pokhara within 30 minutes after leaving Kathmandu. Upon your arrival, you will be taken to your hotel for check-in and some rest.

Paragliding tour

At around 9.30am you will be picked up from your hotel and take you to Sarangkot for a paragliding flight. Paragliding is probably the best and most popular adventurous activities in Pokhara. 30 minutes flight from Sarangkot hill over Phewa lake will leave you breathless.

After paragliding tour, you will be return to hotel and rest till 2 pm. You can utilize this time for lunch break and then carrying out other activities such as Annapurna Base Camp Helicopter tour, Zipline tour or Ultralight. 

We will pick you up at 2pm for following activities:

1. Fewa Lake Boating
2. Visit to Davies Falls
3. Visit to Mahadev Cave
4. Hike to World Peace Pagoda

At about 6pm, we will drive you back to your hotel. The rest of the evening is on your own

Day 3: Pokhara to Pitam Deurali (2100m)

About 8am, we will pick you up from hotel and drive to Milan chowk which takes about 30 minutes. Start walking to Dhampus watching beautiful views of Annapuran and Mt. Fishtail and typical Nepali villages. Later you will pass through oak and rhododendron forests to reach Deurali for overnight rest.

Day 4: Pothana to Forest camp (2600 m)

After breakfast we head towards Pritam Deurali and then to forest camp. Enroute you ascend through rhododendron and pine forest before passing by vilalges of Tolka, Landruk and Lwang. Forest camp will be our stay for tonight. 

Day 5: Forest camp to High camp (3550 m)

The first few hours you will be making an ascent to rest camp which offers glorious views of Mt. Fishtail peak, Annapuran III and IV. We will stop at Badal Danda for lunch, a perfect point to enjoy views of Mt Fishtail, Mt Mardi Himal and Annpurna South as well as Ghorapani. It wil take another two hours walk to arrive at High camp.

Day 6: High camp - Mardi himal base camp (4500 m) – Low camp 

This day we will head towards Mardi Himal Base camp. In 3 hrs. time you will reach Base Camp to enjoy spectacular views of Mardi Himal, Annapurna South and Mt Fishtail. After spending some quality time here, we descend down to the hotel for lunch. We leave the hotel and climb further down to low camp for overnight rest. 

Day 7: Low Camp to Lawng village (1600 m)

We leave Low Camp after breakfast and before long we will be in Siding village which features a local bazaar. Here we will have our lunch and continue trek to Lwang. Lwang offers community guest houses where you can enjoy local cultural dance and dinner. It is one of the ideal homestay.

Day 8: Lwang village to Pokhara (750M)

Today we trek down to Hyanja via Astham, and from there drive to Pokhara. Overnight in hotel in Pokhara.

Alternatively, you can hire a jeep from Lwang and drive straight to Pokhara. You can spend extra time relaxing in Pokhara. 

Day 9: Pokhara to Kathmandu

We will leave Pokhara for Kathmandu right after breakfast at 7.30 am. The 210km road journey takes about 7 hrs. Capture the scenic views of villages, local lifestyle, rivers, green hills and mountain peaks along the journey. We will have our lunch at a local highway restaurant. 

On the way to Kathmandu, you can also visit Manakamana Temple, the wish-fulfilling temple, by a cable car at your own expense. Please let us know in advance if you are interested so we can make prior arrangements. 

Instead of driving to Kathmandu directly, you can enjoy an extra side trip.

Side Trip 1: Visit Begnas Lake | USD10 per person

Begnas is the second largest lake situated 9 km north of the Pokhara- Kathmandu highway. Those interested in visiting Begnas Lake kindly inform your tour guide in advance. 

Side Trip 2: Visit Bandipur | USD10 per person

Located some 10km off Dumre along the Pokhara-Kathmandu highway, Bandipur is a Newari town popular for medieval houses, Newari architecture and culture and mountain views. 

Check into the hotel after arriving in Kathmandu. You will be free to do what you feel like for the rest of the evening.

Optional route: Take a 25-minute flight to Kathmandu from Pokhara.

Are you bored with an over 7 hours + road journey to Kathmandu? Then take the 25-minute scenic and easy flight to Kathmandu. The rest of the time, you can spend on your own.

Day 10: Kathmandu day tour

The Kathmandu day tour begins at 9.30 am when the tour guide will pick you up and take you to the following places:

• Asan, spice and vegetable market
• Indrachowk, an ancient trade centre
• Kathmandu Durbar Square 
• Freek Street

At about 1.30 pm, you will have lunch in Patan Durbar Square, enjoying a good view of the surrounding durbar squares. After lunch, we will continue sightseeing.

• Patan Durbar Square
• Pashupatinath
• Boudhanth

After completing sightseeing, in the evening, we will go to a local restaurant for a traditional dinner while enjoying cultural dance performances.

Day 11: Departure | Nagarkot sunrise tour with Bhaktapur durbar square sightseeing

Early morning, Nagakot offers a beautiful sunrise and amazing views of the Himalaya, including Mt. Everest. 

On your way back to Kathmandu, you will have a sightseeing tour in the medieval city of Bhaktapur, which is also known as living museum of Newari art and architecture.

After Bhaktapur sightseeing, you can choose from the options below

If your flight is sooner, we will directly drive you from Bhaktapur to Kathmandu international airport

Or

If you are departing late in the evening, we will drive back to Kathmandu where you can spend some time shopping and relaxing. We will take you to international airport for your departure flight as per your flight schedule
