Nepal 3-Day Tour: Kathmandu Sightseeing, Hiking, Volunteering & Yoga Retreat

Day 1: Kathmandu Sightseeing program with cultural dinner

At 9.30am, our guide will pick you up from your hotel and take you to Ason, a spice and vegetable bazaar, where people from all over Nepal visit. A 5 minute walk westward and we are into the ancient trading center of Indrachowk. Following a narrow gully in southwesterly direction from here will reach us in Kathmandu Durbar Square, surrounded by medieval palaces, temples, courtyards and Kumari House. After receiving blessing from Kumari we make our the famous Freak Street, which was once on the hippie trail of 1960s. 

Our vehicle will then drive you directly to Swoyambhu Stupa, world’s oldest Buddhist stupa, said to have been built 2500 years ago. We then drive to Boudha Stupa where you will observe Tibetan monastery and interact with Buddhist monks. Boudha Stupa is a perfect spot for lunch break. After lunch we will arrive at Pashupatinath to observe Hindu funeral rites, meet sadhus and priests and explore the surrounding. By afternoon we will head over to Patan Durbar Square, a world heritage site, which features Krishna Temple, courtyard, Golden Temple, Khubeshwor and Patan museum.

In the evening we will attend a Nepali restaurant to watch cultural dance performances and enjoy traditional Nepali cuisine. Post dinner you will be escorted to your hotel for overnight rest. 

Day 2: Hiking and volunteering program

At 6am, we will pick you up from your hotel and drive to Jhor, the starting point of our hiking. We will trek for 3 hrs to Kakani through Shivapuri – Nagarjuna national park. The trek involves walking through forests inhabited by many wildlife animals such as wild boar, barking deer, leopard cat and over 50 species of birds. 

We expect to reach Kakani by 10am. We will visit a local school and meet with headmaster and faculty members. Based on your knowledge and experience, you will be involved in teaching, dancing, hygiene, sports etc. Kakani is also a famous viewpoint to Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, Manaslu and Gorkha Himal range. By 3pm we will leave Kakani and drive back to Kathmandu. 

Note 1: You will carry breakfast pack for hiking to Kakani. Inform your hotel for breakfast preparation and packing.

Note 2: No lunch will be provided by the school. So you are advised to bring along dry foods.

Day 3: Yoga and Ayurvedic treatment and Nagarkot sunset program

Around 5.30am, we will pick you up from hotel and drive to Yoga center. You will have following programs at the Yoga retreat: Nose cleansing technique, breathing exercise and Asana class. By 9.30am, you will have breakfast. 

At 10.30 your yoga session resumes with the start of Philosophy class. This will be followed by Ayurvedic sauna for 15 minutes and Ayurvedic oil massage for 1 hr. Lunch will be ready by 1pm.

At 3pm we drive to Nagarkot, a popular hill station, just in time to watch the sunset and explore the surrounding. By evening we will be back in Kathmandu. Your Nepal trip 3 days ends here.
